A Day for Care
September 11, 2011
Today is an important day for all Americans and it makes me feel like it is the perfect day to begin my wellness blog.
I begin with a quote from lyrics written by Ira Gershwin:
"The more I read the papers, the less I comprehend the world and all it's capers and how it all will end. Nothing seems to be lasting, but that isn't our affair. We have something permanent- I mean in the way we care."
As i thought of these lyrics, I looked up the exact definition of the word care- both as a noun and a verb- and this is what I found:
As a noun: The provision of what is necessary for the health, welfare, maintenance, and protection of someone or something.
As a verb: Feel concern or interest. Attach importance to something.
I often speak of nutrition and the food we put in our bodies- but wellness is so much more. It is about Care. Care for yourself, care for others , care for the environment, care for the world. And so- today is the perfect day to focus on care. Caring is what makes us human, what makes us whole, what makes us united as one.
I encourage everyone to consider what care and caring mean to you as I do today and wish you all peace, love, freedom and care.
